Food 4/10 Drinks 6/10 Customer service 10/10 Normally I like to eat at local specific establishments but a friend was in from out of town and it was her bday and she requested Olive Garden. I don't think it's any better or worse than all the other chain restaurants out there. Food probably came from Costco and it's overpriced but that's the business of chain restaurants. We went just a few days after Christmas and it was packed. We had a party of 5 and ordered a ton of food and drinks. They forgot to bring the salad and soup before the meal and our waiter forgot a few things (I used to be a waitress and fact: sometimes you have an off night. If they make up for it in customer service I typically ignore it). When it was all brought to attention the staff bent over backwards to make sure we still had the best experience possible. I've seen people get pouty and pissy when you say anything was wrong with your visit and that definitely did NOT happen here. Not only were we given free desserts and a couple gifts cards ($20/ea) most of our drinks and some of our food was comped too, all while everyone was being incredibly nice and helpful. Customer service definitely goes a long way and I'm glad the staff realize that!

Holy sh!t. Worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. I was thinking of giving it a 2-star after the manager reasonably compensated us for the disaster, but it doesn't change the horrible-ness of our visit. There was a wait when we came in -- 25 minutes, we were told. After 30 minutes, I went up to ask the status, and the person at the front just said they were working on tables and just dismissed me. No update on time, no apologies, nothing. Nearly 50 minutes in, we were finally seated (why didn't we just leave after 30 minutes? Good question). Our waitress was nice. She took our drink orders and started us off on breadsticks and kept our breadsticks, drinks and salad filled. But there was only so much she could do, as we waited and waited for our food to arrive. About 30 minutes later, our 3-year old daughter started getting anxious and tired, so we asked the waitress what was going on. She apologized, but there was no food coming out yet. My wife and I had to leave to take our daughter home (it was nearing 8pm now!) after an hour had passed. I stopped to speak to the manager, who came out and discussed and apologized. But by the time we had finally left, nearly two hours from getting there, our food had STILL not arrived. Eventually, my MIL/FIL was able to get the food, boxed up for takeout, and came home with it. I thought every restaurant knew you always got out a child's meal first? Or that you don't sit customers you don't intend to serve? And to top it all off -- our food tasted like something from the frozen section at Gordon's Food Service. So disappointed. My wife's lasagna was burnt, my meatballs on the spaghetti were spongy, our daughter's fruit cup was about 8 grapes and her macaroni-and-cheese dish tasted like something from Pasta Roni. Such a bad bad day, compounded by the fact we had just arrived that day after a 4 hour drive up North.

We hadn't eaten here in quite a while, Wow! ! Food was just horrible , presentation just as bad. . I'm not sure what has happened here, as it used to be good pretty consistently, it's gone downhill on a bobsled as far as we are concerned.! We won't be back .

My hubby took the kids out to lunch and the service was terrible!!! It took 30 minutes to get the drink order and that was from another server who h had to wave down! They sat at table 221 today 1/2/15 unsure of the servers name but come on!! You work for tips and he gave you more than 18% that wasn't deserved! It will be a while before we grow money at Olive Garden in traverse city again!!!!

My food was fine (eggplant parm + spaghetti). My parents did the zuppa toscana thing, my mother was sick that evening and most of the next day. I don't know if it was something she ate here, to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, we weren't real impressed with the salad. There was a 25 minute wait at 5:30/6pm on a Thursday night. We had a gift card, and it was my dad's birthday. You'd think with that wait and the amount of people in there, it would've been worth the wait. Not so, not so. If I return, I might do the soup instead of the salad, salad was uninspiring and I prefer to choose my own dressing/ and non-bagged lettuce. I think the service was alright though, drinks waited awhile to be filled but it was a packed house.

I have never been to any other Olive Garden before so this was my first time :) I was pleasantly surprised to be seated quickly being the place was packed. Our waitress came right away and asked us about drinks. I ordered the ice tea and the rest of the group had lemonade. We order the bruschetta for an appetizer and it was fairly good. The waitress came around several times asking us if we were ready to order. After the 2nd time I asked if there were any specials and at that point we were asked if we had an insert in our menus or a thing on our table. We told her no and she brought us one. WELL, it turns out they had their never ending bread sticks, soup/salad and pasta for special. We decided to go with that. My daughter in law ordered the angel hair pasta with red sauce. My son ordered the garlic Alfredo over penne (he wanted cappellinni but they were out). My husband ordered the angel hair with sausage pompadour and I the fettuccine with the sausage pompadoro. I personally thought my pasta was very boring and flavorless. My husband and I both put salt and pepper on ours to bring out some flavor. My son loved his and so did his wife. I ordered soup and so did my husband. His was a chicken and gnocchi and he loved it. Mine was something similar to chili and tasteless. I added lots of salt and pepper to make it taste like anything. My son and his wife ordered the salad. Their salad was perfect with just enough dressing. I was rather disappointed in our waitress. I had to ask her to give us the specials, I had to ask her what soups we were allowed with our meal, I wish she would have explained or offered up more info. On the upside she was very attentive and our food came quickly.

The restaurant was clean and the staff was pleasant but the food was not all that. My wife and I both had the house salad which was a bit over dressed the bread sticks were fine. I had the stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes my wife had the eggplant Parmesan. The chicken breast had a very salty taste to it almost like a powdered chicken base on it. The eggplant Parmesan was soggy, no texture to it whatsoever. We split a warm caramel apple pie with vanilla ice cream which was good. If you have no other Italian options then it will do, but again it would not be my first choice.

Why is it that no matter what I get at what ever restaurant I'm going to the only thing I really fall in love with is the FRIED food? I took my boyfriend to the Olive Garden today for our five month anniversary. I got the soup, salad and breadstick combo, with zuppe toscana for my soup. But seriously, how can you screw any of that up, right? Oh well, let me tell you. I want to know if there is a check box on any kitchen staff (or is it the servers?) applicants app that says, "Do you like your salad *drowning* in dressing?" And only if they check "Yes" will they be hired, because seriously, I need to wring those poor, suffering pieces of lettuce out before I can even consider eating them. Plus, when reaching for a breakstick I'd like to put it down or finish it without leaving a thick coat of butter and salt all over my finger tips, but no. That's not really an option either. But all of that I could handle. Really. It was when my boyfriend dug into his that I had more of a problem. Now look, alfredo is a fattening food. Lots of butter, lots of cheese, lots of cream, which should mean lots of flavor. But not so at the Olive Garden. I would rather take a jar of Ragu and make this at home. The lasagna was soggy, and mush. I did like the chicken parmesan, but again, hellz yez for fried food. Okay, so the food was kinda lame, but it couldn't get much worse than that, right? WRONG! W-R-O-N-G! The service is terrible. When our server came to our table she slammed the bottle of wine in her hand onto the table, and smacked whatever it was she had in her mouth around before saying, "Can I start anyone off with some wine tasting here?" Us: No. Her: Okay...do you wanna like order now? Us: Sure. Me: I'd like the soup, salad, and breadstick thing. My man: I'll have the tour of Italy. Her: Do you want soup or salad? My man: Neither. Her: Okay. Me: ...It comes with it though, doesn't it? My man: It does? Her: Yeah, but only if you want it. My man: Yeah, then soup. The conversation continued. She corrected us when we mispronounced the soup names. Now, maybe it's just me, but doesn't that seem rude? Like, correct your guest, make them feel uncomfortable and stupid. That's a good way to keep your night going, right? I don't know. It's hard for me to deal with other servers because I criticize them like I'm God's greatest gift to the serving world, when I know I'm not, but still. Most server errors could be corrected with a little bit of common sense. Anyway. Olive Garden is not the best choice, and the service is so far beyond lacking that I'd like to commit homicide.

I love the Zuppa Toscana that is on the soup, salad and breadsticks menu. But oddly enough we never go to Olive Garden for Italian food. Instead this is our first choice for grilled salmon. It is awesome!! The salad is crisp and very well prepared (at least OURS was) but their salmon is the best in town and always perfectly prepared. Service is always good and courteous.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
